Former run-back Frank Gore will sign a one-day contract to the San Francisco 49ers, retiring after the team who originally selected him, NFL Jerseys Online reported on Sunday.
Gore also stated his desire to become an integral part of the 49ers frontline management. “I am a suave fan of potential talent and looking at the talent of the other athletes,” Gore said. “They (the 49ers) also recognize how well I am acquainted with football players and the qualities I am aware of in players in football.”
Gore was a 3rd-round selection from the 49ers in 2005. Following his time in San Francisco for 10 years Gore has also played for various teams including the Colts, Dolphins, Bills and Jets. Gore was not a part of any of the teams last season.
Gore has rushed for over 1,000 yards over nine seasons, and has played in the most games of the history of the league (241). Gore’s total of 16,000 yards rushing is third in the history of football, ahead of Emmitt Smith (18,355) and Walter Payton (16,726).
